Brooklyn is on her way...finally!

Well as you can tell from the title Brooklyn is on her way. I am going to the hospital tonight to be admitted and they will start inducing her tomorrow morning. We are so excited to have her in our family. Brody keeps asking about baby today. I say, "Baby is coming and she is going to bring you a present." I am not sure what he is more excited for, the baby or the present, either way he will make a great big brother. We will post pictures after she is born. Hurry it is finally here!

My Little Man

Brody is just growing up so much lately. He is almost two and I cannot believe how much he is just a little man. He tries to be exactly like his dad now. If Josh is laying on the bed watching a movie and he is laying on his stomach. Brody has to do the same thing. Brody tries to say something funny and then does a fake laugh to make you laugh. He says the cutest things. His favorite game is Yahtzee and he thinks that every roll is a Yahtzee so he throws his hands up in the air and yells Yahtzee! We are trying to teach him that Brooklyn is coming so we ask him where is Mommy's baby? He then points to my stomach. If you ask him where is Brody's baby, he points to his own stomach. He unfortunately has picked up some of his parents OCD behaviors such as organizing things in lines and making sure everything is just perfect. Everyday he amazes me with the things he does. I love him so much and I love being his mommy.

Orientation Week and White Coat Ceremony

This week has been really fun for Brody and I as we have had the opportunity to do a lot of the orientation stuff with Josh. On Monday we met Josh for lunch at school. There I had the chance to meet all the other LDS students that are first years as well. On Tuesday we went to the President's picnic. It was very nice. Brody insisted on bringing his glove and baseball to play with Josh there. Well, everyone thought Brody was just so cute including the photographer for the newspaper. He is already making the paper and he is only two. Just kidding. Although, I am sure my Grandpa McQuivey would love to see that. Finally on Friday we had the White Coat Ceremony. I really wanted to record it but just would not let me. And unfortunately the pictures I got are not that good since I had to sit in the back with Brody. But here they are:
This is actually the auditorium that Josh has all of his lectures in. It is quite a change compared to BYU. Here Josh is walking in the processional.

After the ceremony they had a nice lunch for the students and their families. Josh had to go and get some things done so we did not get pictures until we got home later in the day. But man isn't my hubby so HOT! He looks so good!
Here is Josh and Brody together. Brody now likes to pose for pictures and when I say smile he squints his eyes really tight. He is such a character these days and makes me laugh every day. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family. Not to mention two good lookin' boys.

Brody has taken to building a lot of forts lately around the house. He likes to use our bags that are packed for the hospital to do it. He is so proud of himself after he is done. Then once he has it just the way he likes he sits in it for a minute and then moves it all to another room of the house. He is so funny.

Finished Brooklyn's Bedding

So after putting it off for quite awhile, I finally finished Brooklyn's bedding. Everything was done except for the bed skirt. I thought it would take too much time but it only took me three hours (I am obviously very slow!) But I am glad it is done and now she can come anytime. Today would be nice...

Off to School

Josh started school today and to amuse his wife he let me take a "first day of school" photo. I am so proud of him and how hard he worked to get to this point. He is the most amazing man ever. I have to admit that I have butterflies in my stomach today for him. I love you hun and hope you have a wonderful first day of school!

What happens when you don't pay close enough attention...

So I was busy cleaning and Josh was busy getting things ready for school to start that we both were not paying much attention to what Brody was doing. Well when I looked over at him he had gotten a hold of a pen and scribbled all over himself. He thought it was quite funny and loved posing for the pictures. Times like these are the ones that you just cannot get upset as a parent because he is just too dang cute.

Our new home

After all the uncertainty of where we would be going to medical school we are now official moved in to our new home in Virginia. Josh will start school at EVMS (Eastern Virginia Medical School) in one week. YEAH! I am so proud of him for all that he does for our family and how hard he has worked to get in to school here. So from the last post here is what has happened. Josh and his dad found a place for us to live and they moved in all in one day. I flew out here the following Monday with Brody. What a long flight.......anyways, we made it here and started unpacking all of our stuff the next day. We worked for three long days and got everything unpacked except for one big box that I am dragging my feet to do. Once we were moved in Josh showed me around town. We spent Saturday with a fourth year medical student and his family. Brody loved playing with their kids. Sunday we went to our new ward and met a lot of people. Monday we toured the hospitals to see where is the best place to have Brooklyn be born at and then we drove up to Washington D.C. for a couple days. We got back last night and finally got our Internet and air conditioning working all in one day. Thank goodness! It has been quite the ride for our family and I am sure it did not help Josh that he had an emotional pregnant wife through the whole thing, but we are so grateful to finally be here. I am sure that we will never forget how the Lord has blessed our lives and answered our prayers through it all.

Making Jam

On the way here Josh tried to save our frozen jam but a bottle of vinegar opened up and ruined all of it. This is the third time that Josh and I have made jam together. Although, I have to say that it was more Josh making the jam with Brody while Brody ate too many strawberries. We had a good time and are grateful for PB&Jelly sandwiches again!

Washington D.C.

Josh and I are so lucky to be so close to all the history out here. We had finished unpacking and decided to take a trip up to D.C. since it was only a three hour drive. While there we visited the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, World War II Memorial, etc. For a nine month pregnant woman it was a long day with lots of walking. I was exhausted by the end of the trip and ready to go home to my own bed. We had such a wonderful time though and we look forward to our next trip up there.

Oh, we also stopped at Mt. Vernon for a day. Here is Brody holding George Washington's hand.

More Washington D.C.

On our way to D.C. we stopped in Richmond to tour the Confederate White House. However it took us so long to find our way around that we got there just as they were closing. Oh well....another time.
Brody loved riding the Metro into the city. This is the first thing you see when you get off the Metro at the Smithsonian stop. We toured the Air and Space Museum first. That took us about three hours. I had already seen it so I mostly chased Brody while Josh looked around.
We then headed over to the Capitol Building on our way to eat lunch at Union Station.
After lunch we went to the Washington Monument.

Saying Goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa Barrus

The reason we went to Washington in the first place was to take care of my handicapped sister Jessica and supervise Taylor's late nights out with boyfriends while my parents went on vacation. They were gone for two weeks. These pictures are of Brody saying goodbye before they left. Don't I have good looking parents? I think so. Not to mention that cute kid beside them...I wonder who he belongs too? He is just adorable!

A Trip to the Beach House

While in Washington we went to the beach to check up on how things were progressing with my parents beach house. It was a fun day with shopping at the outlet mall and spending time with my parents. Not to mention taking a peek at the house. We are looking forward to starting a new tradition and spending Christmas there this year with my family. We are so excited for the house to be finished. It will be a place where memories will be made and we will grow closer together as a family. I cannot wait!!!
