its crazy to me how time seems to be passing me by. so quickly. packing up our home in virginia feels like just yesterday and yet here i am, finally getting a chance to look back and write all that happened in those final days in virginia. i hope i havent forgotten too much as i am writing this post now almost 16 months later (yikes!). anyways onto the journaling of our lives. life was crazy then. do you know how hard it is to pack with two little ones and a newborn? i packed quite a bit in my "nesting" phase of pregnancy. but i didnt want our house to be bare. and josh begged me to hold off because he was going to be around to help the last two weeks before graduation. so we held off to pack. but then when those two weeks came it was like whoa...we have a lot to do and not much time to do it in. so down everything came off the walls. boxes everywhere. the kids had a ton of fun building forts. kate was an angel and slept a lot which helped a ton. we had one final garage sale and got rid of lots as well. it was crazy to me how much we accumulated while living in virginia. we had rented the biggest moving van and we were very worried we wouldnt fit everything. and to be honest we had to get rid of a few big furniture items to fit...namely our ottoman that josh built while we lived in utah...newly married. there was simple not enough room for everything. in the end we fit everything and i have to say it was the weirdest feeling driving away from our home knowing that its not ours anymore. knowing that we would not be coming back to it. it was hard. tears were shed and i will miss that home and all of the wonderful memories associated with it.
this last picture is actually on the road with grandpa and daddy. brody did awesome on the drive and never complained. his favorite thing to do was stop at the truck stops (the heart ones were his favorite) and wash the trucks windows, clean out the cabin, and get all his toys organized and ready for the next portion of the trip. he was a trooper and that is something he nor josh will ever forget.
